Evergreen: Your Trusted Contractor for Energy Audits & More

At Evergreen Home Performance, we know how hectic your job as a realtor can be. We offer a broad range of home comfort and energy efficiency services in Cape Elizabeth, Portland, Yarmouth, and beyond — all the way up the coast to Rockland and Camden. Our solutions include energy audits, air sealing, insulation, and basement moisture control.

Shopping for a new home is a complicated process for many prospective home buyers. As a realtor, you hope to simplify this process and help home buyers feel more at ease with the decisions they are making. When you partner with the right contractors, you can make trusted recommendations to your buyers and arm them with the information they need to make decisions they feel good about for years to come.

Setting Your Clients on the Right Path

In Maine’s tight housing market, prospective buyers often shop for homes that will need a number of upgrades in order to be comfortable, safe, and energy efficient. They seek advice from home inspectors, assessors, interior remodelers, and more, only to receive conflicting information that can be overwhelming.

When realtors refer their clients to Evergreen, they rest assured that we can help close the deal and serve your client well. Our practical recommendations, tailored to optimize comfort and energy efficiency, are delivered with the great customer service buyers need to reduce stress.

Our free one-hour pre-sale consult is an invaluable supplement to a traditional home inspection and shows a prospective buyer how just a few affordable upgrades will greatly enhance a home’s comfort and indoor air quality, and lower monthly utility bills. The buyer can rest easy knowing exactly what their new home will need, and they’ll already be in touch with a contractor who can improve their home after they buy it.

When you partner with the right contractors, you’ll increase the trust between you and your clients, while helping them make the best decisions for their new homes.

Making Home Improvements More Accessible to New Homeowners

Some prospective home buyers are intimidated by the prospect of having to make improvements to their home soon after the big purchase. The right contractor can put a buyer’s mind at ease by giving them advice on how to prioritize their energy efficiency improvements over time.

At Evergreen, we advise our customers on how to stage their home improvements in a cost-effective and “energy-effective” manner. We might, for example, recommend air sealing and insulation in the attic and basement as first-tier improvements.

Evergreen also helps home buyers navigate the incentive programs offered by Efficiency Maine and local utilities, helping them leverage rebates and financing products for a variety of measures, from insulation to new heating systems. And for homes in natural gas territory, the incentives are even greater.

You can refer us as an award-winning, trusted contractor for a variety of home upgrades, and because we are committed to making homes more energy efficient, you’ll promote green values as you do so. Your clients will gain a trusted contractor who can help them with immediate energy efficiency improvements like air sealing and insulation.

Let your clients focus on other important aspects of moving into their new home. We’ll help your clients understand what their new home will need, improve their home, and help them take advantage of Efficiency Maine financing and rebates.

I have always been impressed by the high level of service, quality of work, and excellent follow-through provided by Evergreen Home Performance in the three projects that they completed at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm over the past several years.

Evergreen came out 2 years ago to do an assessment and insulate our roof. This year we had them come back and do the basement as well. They are hands-down the best crew we've ever hired to work on our house. They are experts at what they do, and super meticulous in their work. After working in our house for a week with blown insulation, there was no trace they were ever here. We've seen a huge decrease in our energy bills while at the same time the house has become way more comfortable. Can't recommend them enough.

Evergreen did everything they said they would and more. I actually don't mind going into the basement now since they sealed it. The air quality in the house is noticeably better and it's warmer in the winter. We can even store clothing down there where before, whatever was in there would mildew. Even the spider population declined! I used to vacuum so many of them from the corners of the ceilings in the house. Not any more!

Thanks Evergreen Home Performance for helping to make our home more efficient. Many thanks as well to Bryan for the initial walk through and recommendations to make our home more efficient and to Dave, Roland, and Jacob for a job that was done professionally and courteous.  We were amazed at the level of efficiency and everyday they made sure to protect our floors, carpets, and furniture. We had daily discussions with Dave about progress and what was being done and where they were at in the project.

I never leave reviews, but had a great experience with Evergreen and wanted to spread the word! In short, we worked with them to insulate our roof this winter and have noticed surprising immediate results. The constant ice dams I have wrestled with are completely gone, and the home is noticeably more comfortable. It's a little too early to tell if our oil bill is going to reduce, but I imagine we will see an impact there as well.

We couldn't be more pleased with the easy, professional, high-value service from Evergreen. Having purchased an older home that had been in our family for generations, we needed multiple upgrades, including insulation throughout. Evergreen insulated our attic with blown-in cellulose, built a new, super-insulated attic hatch, sealed off the old one (which was just a piece of plywood in a closet ceiling), and also talked us through our best options to upgrade our heating system given the plans we have to add onto the house.

From beginning to end – that is from the moment Justin McEdward stepped into our home to assess our energy conservation needs until the crew left – the Evergreen Home Performance process went absolutely smoothly. Justin made a thorough inspection and took pictures with an infrared camera. His proposal described the scope of work in detail, and he explained what we could expect the proposed work to accomplish. Our proposal was forthcoming within a couple of days, and Justin was available to discuss it and answer questions.

Really great experience from start to finish with Evergreen. They helped us prioritize what needed to be completed first, and has made a significant difference in our hearing costs already. Plus they were really friendly and considerate to work with!

My husband and I bought a home on the water in Owls Head and decided to make the investment in Evergreen's recommendations for insulation. Brian Robinson spent 3 hours examining every nook and cranny before he made practical suggestions and explained them thoroughly to us.

The crew members from Evergreen Home Performance each made sure to greet us every day, while maintaining their distance in this time of the pandemic. Their work took a total of nine days, spread over three weeks. Even though they were working in multiple rooms of our house, as well as the basement and attic, they were unobtrusive and always cleaned up after themselves every day. The on-sight manager kept us informed of their daily schedule so we'd know which parts of the house they'd be working on.

We initially contacted Evergreen through Efficiency Maine for an energy audit, which was conducted promptly and professionally by Justin McEdward, one of their Energy Advisors who is BPI-certified. After a thorough inspection of our newly purchased home, Justin explained in great detail what we needed and did not need. It was agreed that Evergreen would remove all of the existing attic insulation, which was not adequate, and replace it with blown in cellulose, to a rating of R-60.

We absolutely loved our experience with Evergreen. The team was incredibly kind, professional and great to work with. We're very impressed with the quality of work of the Evergreen team and how easy they made everything! Our house had barely any insulation ahead of this project and the results are amazing. Insulating the attic, walls and basement with Evergreen allowed us to tear a 50-year-old furnace, ductwork and oil tank out of the basement and now heat the home with new heat pumps. Evergreen also added 100 sq ft of clean, new storage space to the attic!

In the final stages of selling our home, and with a closing date set, an inspection came across an unanticipated issue in our attic. We quickly called in contractors, but nobody was able to identify the source of the problem. Then we thought of Evergreen. Brian Robinson was on site the next morning and immediately identified the source (a faulty roofing job completed three years earlier which had effectively sealed up portions of the ridge vent and restricted air flow - not easily visible with a quick inspection).

They were highly recommended. I found them to be very knowledgeable and so helpful, with practical ideas. Despite my not living within their service area, they were generous with their knowledge, describing the usual solutions to correct leaks in my basement, and what the result is likely to be by following path A, B or C, and why. I was discouraged. Talking with Evergreen helped me see that my basement problems are far from insurmountable and really, fairly common in 100-year old homes. There are proven solutions.
