Retrofitting the Rockland Public Library: Setting the Scene

The Rockland Public Library attics have several access points, but the main hatch opens just above this beautiful arch. We're spending a lot of time at the Library this month, thanks to a major energy efficiency upgrade that we estimate will save taxpayers more than $10,000 in heating costs every year.  Led by BPI-certified Project Manager Svea Tullberg, our crew is insulating the roof slopes, wall cavities, rim joists, and foundation walls in the 110-year-old building.

Though the Library's building performance left something to be desired, the construction techniques have our production crew ooh-ing and ahh-ing.  Take a look at the lath and plaster construction on the side of the arch (right) and the top of the dome (left).
