A Career Making a Difference for Our Environment

Back to Blog

Priorities have shifted for many Mainers in the wake of a global pandemic. Some have taken the opportunity to make a job change, and for others, that decision was made for them when they lost their jobs due to a struggling economy. But whatever the reason you may be looking for a career change, working in an industry that is making a global and local difference will always come at a premium. This is why we think you should join our team of weatherization technicians, energy advisors, customer service representatives, and project managers here at Evergreen Home Performance.

Make a Difference—For Your Living!

If you are a driven, hard-working individual, of course doing your best work is the goal. But what if the work you are doing can also be good for the planet and for the state of Maine? This is the goal here at Evergreen—to do our best to improve the homes of Maine, making them more comfortable, more efficient, and healthier —  all while striving to be a great place to work and grow.

Through targeted and science-based home improvements like insulation, air sealing, energy audits, window replacement, and attic or basement work, we help reduce the carbon footprint of the housing stock of Southern and Midcoast Maine, which slows the harmful effects of climate change both locally and throughout the rest of the world.

Help Maine Reach Its Environmental Goals

In December of 2020, the Maine Climate Council, in conjunction with Gov. Janet Mills, outlined a plan to take immediate action against the harmful effects of human-created carbon emissions. This plan will put Maine on a trajectory to decrease greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030 and 80% by 2050, and achieve carbon neutrality by 2045, creating 30,000+ jobs in renewable energy and efficiency. But accomplishing this goal will require Mainers like you to bring it to fruition. We need you on our team. As Maine’s top performer in home weatherization measures, our company plans to grow to meet the challenge and help secure a cleaner, brighter future for our rivers, coastline, and forests!

Work With Some Of the Best in the Business

No one wants to join a hum-drum team that uses run-of-the-mill equipment, operates on outdated techniques, and is fine with just barely getting the job done—you want to work with the best! We make it a point to set ourselves apart and to stay on the cutting edge of building science. Evergreen is proud to have been a top performer statewide for many years in Efficiency Maine’s home energy program and our work consistently receives high praise in 3rd party quality assurance inspections.

I have always been impressed by the high level of service, quality of work, and excellent follow-through provided by Evergreen Home Performance in the three projects that they completed at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm over the past several years.

We needed basement encapsulation to stop moisture coming up into the house from our regularly flooding basement. We had mold growing on windowsills and furniture. All the staff were friendly, respectful of our home, and easy to work with. Humidity has gone from 70% down to 40% and mold has not grown back after two months. Very grateful.

Evergreen did everything they said they would and more. I actually don't mind going into the basement now since they sealed it. The air quality in the house is noticeably better and it's warmer in the winter. We can even store clothing down there where before, whatever was in there would mildew. Even the spider population declined! I used to vacuum so many of them from the corners of the ceilings in the house. Not any more!

Evergreen removed and replaced the insulation in my attic. They did a great job!, Crew was excellent, and the whole thing went smoothly, and the attic was NOT easy to get into or work in, so kudos to some hard work done well!

Evergreen was so helpful in securing us Efficiency Maine funding for a big attic insulation project early this winter. They did all of the paperwork, and totally guided us through a vermiculite removal process that included a payment from a trust for the procedure. I could instantly feel the second floor being so much warmer than before. The boiler does not kick on nearly as frequently since they completed the job. It was worth every penny! Brian Robinson was so thorough throughout the whole process including a full walk through after the job had been completed.

Evergreen Home Performance shows its expertise from start to finish. Evergreen did three house projects in winter/spring/summer 2020 for me, attic insulation, crawl space under a porch insulation, and basement foam/vapor barrier. From my initial discussion with Bryan, I understood the reasons for choosing different types of insulation, the associated costs, and time estimates. Evergreen scheduled in advance, came when they said they would, and the crews were highly professional in their work and demeanor.

Thorough, smart, informative, integrated, and communicative -- that's how my experience was with Evergreen even with the covid interruption midstream. The team picked up where they left off, insulated basement and air sealed attic and knee wall in 100' temps under the eaves! This business group was a pleasure to work with.

My husband and I bought a home on the water in Owls Head and decided to make the investment in Evergreen's recommendations for insulation. Brian Robinson spent 3 hours examining every nook and cranny before he made practical suggestions and explained them thoroughly to us.

We initially contacted Evergreen through Efficiency Maine for an energy audit, which was conducted promptly and professionally by Justin McEdward, one of their Energy Advisors who is BPI-certified. After a thorough inspection of our newly purchased home, Justin explained in great detail what we needed and did not need. It was agreed that Evergreen would remove all of the existing attic insulation, which was not adequate, and replace it with blown in cellulose, to a rating of R-60.

I was very impressed by the professionalism of this company and the workers. Brian R. was very prompt in replying to my questions; the crew was meticulous in all parts of the work and attentive to the safety aspects concerning Covid; and Brian was extremely thorough in the final inspection. My attic is now snug and warm and I've noticed that the second floor is warmer as well.

Evergreen is the "go-to" company for improving the efficiency of your home. There are others to choose from but none so effective, honest, and capable as Evergreen. They did a great quantity of dense packing cellulose to improve our home (both for energy efficiency and for sound insulation) and it was totally successful. They are on-time, helpful, and caring. They clean up to a level that can't be over emphasized. This was the second time we employed them and we'd use them again if the opportunity came. You'll not be sorry to select Evergreen.

Greetings one and all! I am writing to express my gratitude to all involved in my insulation project.  From start to finish, I appreciate the universal theme which was maintained by each and every one of you, to ensure that my home was insulated and protected from freezing pipes as if it was your home. Andrea, thanks for helping me navigate my way to the project. Nate, thanks for the thorough initial assessment and the time you took to explain this project to me, step by step. Brian, thanks for setting up my project - so happy

Several years ago Brian Robinson evaluated the crawl space at my summer home on Islesboro where I knew moisture was becoming a problem. I had done quite a bit of work in the space many years prior with mixed results. When Brian offered some suggestions, they were ideas that incorporated work previously done, and would be a relatively low cost effort to improve the situation. He offered this advice over several phone conversations of some length, informally, and at no charge.

Really great experience from start to finish with Evergreen. They helped us prioritize what needed to be completed first, and has made a significant difference in our hearing costs already. Plus they were really friendly and considerate to work with!
