Hear directly from Maine homeowners what it’s like working with Evergreen.
Don’t just take it from us – hear from a few of the thousands of Mainers from Portland to Rockland that we’ve helped create more comfortable and energy efficient homes since 2006.

A thorough inspection of our (older) house and its energy needs. Competent and personable work crew.

First we have Evergreen do a BIG project worth about $20K (windows, basement, insulate & rebuild an entire wall, a door, attics, and air sealing). They were so great we had them come back later when we decided we did want to do our other door. They are professional and do great work. They take care of your home and are trustworthy, and on top of all that friendly! I highly recommend you call them!

We just finished a large project of air sealing and reinsulating our 1890s basement and attic which had been completely renovated 8 years ago but still felt cold and lacked proper energy assessment and corrections. We met with Justin in December and were very impressed with his knowledge, professionalism and communication skills and knew Evergreen was who we wanted to work with. Dave was our on hands project manager and was excellent. The office staff has been quick to respond and helpful as well when needed. We would by far recommend Evergreen to anyone looking for an energy assessment and energy work. Knowledgable, professional, constantly checking in with us to make sure we understood process, costs, and most importantly that our expectations were met, never once did we feel we were being “sold” something or pressured you to feel like they are part of your team and they care about your home and comfort in it as much as you do! Beyond satisfied with the experience and we’re sure we will be much more comfortable in our home in years to come! Thank you to all!

From beginning to end – that is from the moment Justin McEdward stepped into our home to assess our energy conservation needs until the crew left – the Evergreen Home Performance process went absolutely smoothly. Justin made a thorough inspection and took pictures with an infrared camera. His proposal described the scope of work in detail, and he explained what we could expect the proposed work to accomplish. Our proposal was forthcoming within a couple of days, and Justin was available to discuss it and answer questions.
The crew arrived on the appointed day to remove old insulation in our basement, reinsulate basement and crawl space areas, seal cracks and crevices, and make our attic insulation more efficient. All members of the crew were efficient, hard-working, and professional; the crew leader was knowledgeable and able to answer our questions as they arose. We were impressed that the clean-up left no trace that Evergreen Home Performance had worked in our home.
Next step: Just McEdward will conduct a post-work infrared survey to show us before and after images and to determine whether the crew would need to return to address any problem spots.
We’ll be in touch with Evergreen Home Performance after the heating season to share how this coming winter’s fuel consumption compares with last winter’s.

Evergreen has just completed Phase 2 of 2 at my home. They are professional, hard-working and courteous. They communicate well..no surprises. They’ve gone above and beyond to make my home comfortable and were very respectful of my home.
I recommend them unequivocally!!!
Many thanks to Brian, Brian, Rick, Eddie, Dawson and the rest of the Evergreen crew!!

Awesome company. It was a few years ago that they did the audit and then we commissioned them to do the work. We subsequently sold our house and moved to South Africa, but their level of service and expertise will live on.

We had a fantastic experience working with Evergreen to insulate our roof this winter. Everyone was extremely friendly throughout the process – the crew at our home worked hard, were approachable with questions, and the team leader even showed me around the project to point out specific areas they were working to improve.
They even found a bit of a surprise issue in the roof that slightly complicated their job, but was apparently the main cause of the major ice dam issues we were having. They fixed the issue, stayed within the scheduled time for the job, and within the budget. The best part is that our ice dams are totally gone, and the house is significantly more comfortable!
All this to say, I’m definitely planning to continue working with Evergreen to improve our home, and easily recommend them to others.

Highly recommended. Our heating usage is now less than half what it was before we had our roof insulated. Evergreen was knowledgeable, friendly, and left no trace they were ever in our house. Not only is our heating bill much lower now, but our home is generally more comfortable year-round with less temperature fluctuations. Money well spent.

I used to spend winters in the bathtub because my house was so cold. This was my first winter roaming around my whole house comfortably. This even led me to decorate a little. My heating oil usage has been reduced by over a quarter: I rarely have to boost the thermostat because the temp stays at a constant. The Efficiency Maine rebates, together with the energy savings, make it affordable for me to pay for the loan I took out to finance the project. I do not worry about my pipes freezing. The house is also quiet: no more mice running around in the walls and ceiling – the cellulose successfully repelled them after several weeks. That is huge too! My basement quickly dried out and the foam on the walls also reassures me when the ground is water-logged. I suspect the insulation will also help to reduce swings in humidity levels which is good for my pianos. I highly recommend this company’s work. If you’re going to insulate your house, might as well do it right. Brian and Joel were fantastic (attention to detail and communication) and the mess was minimal. The crew was so discreet. They clearly out-perform other contractors during the interview process by using an energy audit to determine a plan and give a cost estimate (which they stuck to). Brian has a scientific approach to understanding how to make your house air tight. Other contractors failed to recommend air sealing or even noticed the attic above the front porch (which I did not know about). Additional thought: insulating an older home is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint vs. building a new energy-efficient home because it requires a lot of energy to make new materials.

In the final stages of selling our home, and with a closing date set, an inspection came across an unanticipated issue in our attic. We quickly called in contractors, but nobody was able to identify the source of the problem. Then we thought of Evergreen. Brian Robinson was on site the next morning and immediately identified the source (a faulty roofing job completed three years earlier which had effectively sealed up portions of the ridge vent and restricted air flow – not easily visible with a quick inspection). A mid-winter fix was anything but easy and required coordination between multiple contractors to correct the issue, including both interior and exterior work in sub-zero weather outside and cramped workspaces inside – all within a very limited time frame. We are so lucky to live in Midcoast Maine with local companies who are responsive and responsible and who care about their work and their clients. Evergreen is no exception. Evergreen quickly identified the problem, helped plan the corrective actions needed, carefully coordinated their work with the other contractors, and fit us into an extremely busy schedule to complete all work necessary within the allotted amount of time. Our closing was only delayed by one day. It was clear during this entire process that all of the contractors that we dealt with had such respect for Brian, his team, and Evergreen. From the folks who cleaned to the insurance adjuster, everyone followed their lead. Thank you Evergreen for your expertise, your professionalism, and your dedication to helping us identify and fix the issue in a timely manner.
