We're one week into a collaboration with Midcoast Habitat for Humanity that will raise awareness and funds to support energy efficiency and affordable housing. Throughout August, Evergreen will donate $1 to MHFH for every new “like” it receives on Facebook, up to $500. New Facebook fans have already helped us contribute $10 to Midcoast Habitat, but we want to give more!

“We’ve always admired and supported Midcoast Habitat for Humanity,” said Richard Burbank, Evergreen’s President. "Their committment to building energy efficient houses that keep monthly expenses to a minimum is an ideal way help families. We're proud to have provided expertise, analysis, and plenty of hard work during the construction of Habitat houses in Camden and in Thomaston, and we're excited about this fundraising campaign."

Midcoast Habitat for Humanity offers a hand up – not a handout – to local families in need by building sound homes that are affordable to heat and comfortable to live in. Selected partner families invest 500 hours of sweat equity into their homes, which are constructed with donated materials and volunteer labor. MHFH focuses on energy efficiency both in its new construction projects and by weatherizing existing homes. The weatherization project reached 10 Knox County, Maine homes last winter.

“Going ‘green’ was a logical step in our efforts toward sustainability,” said said MHFH Executive Director Tia Anderson, “and we’re so pleased to have Evergreen as a partner and resource.”

Like Evergreen and contribute to MHFH. While you’re at it, like Midcoast Habitat, too!
